PlayStation 5
November 19, 2026Confirmed launch platform. Sony has a marketing partnership with Rockstar Games for GTA 6, meaning trailers and promotional material carry PlayStation branding. Physical and digital editions will both be available.
Xbox Series X
November 19, 2026Confirmed launch platform. Full native Xbox Series X support with 4K capability. Physical Blu-ray disc and digital via Xbox Store both available.
Xbox Series S
November 19, 2026Confirmed launch platform. Digital-only (no disc drive). Performance will be tuned differently compared to Xbox Series X — lower target resolution, though frame rate targets haven't been announced.
PC (Steam / Epic Games Store)
Likely 2027–2028No PC version has been announced for the November 2026 launch. Rockstar released GTA V on PC 18 months after console, and RDR2 took 13 months. A similar gap is expected for GTA 6.
PlayStation 4 / Xbox One
NeverLast-gen consoles are not getting GTA 6. The game's NVMe SSD requirements and advanced rendering make it technically impossible to run on PS4 or Xbox One hardware.
Nintendo Switch 2
UnknownNo GTA 6 announcement for Switch 2. While the Switch 2 is capable hardware, Rockstar has shown no interest in Nintendo platforms for mainline GTA titles.
The PC question
Every GTA cycle, the PC version eventually arrives — just later. GTA V hit console in September 2013, PC in April 2015 (19 months). RDR2 launched on console in October 2018, PC in November 2019 (13 months). Based on that track record, we're watching for a GTA 6 PC announcement sometime in late 2027 or early 2028.

Platform FAQ
Why isn't GTA 6 coming to PS4 or Xbox One?▾
The game needs high-speed NVMe SSDs to stream its open world without load times. PS4 and Xbox One have mechanical hard drives, which would make that impossible. This isn't a business decision — it's a hardware limitation.
Will the PS5 version run at 60fps?▾
Rockstar hasn't said. No frame rate information has been published for any platform. We'll update this the moment they announce technical specs.
Is there a difference between PS5 and Xbox Series X versions?▾
Not announced. Both are confirmed launch platforms. Historically, Sony's marketing deal with Rockstar means PS5 gets some exclusive marketing treatment (trailers shown at PlayStation events), but the actual games are identical in content.
